Drawing on influences
ranging from constructivist architecture, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy’s painting and the simplicity of Japanese geometry, MLTV’s SS17 collection presents a sharp assortment of meticulously structured shirts, trousers, shorts and jackets.
Geometric t-shirts take after an abstracted form of the kimono while long, nylon bomber jackets are printed with shapes evocative of the Bauhaus school.
The tops of the collection are built with a variety of layered materials in a number of sweaters, shirts and t-shirts, where fabric panels are built up around the shoulders or mimic the abstracted form of a coattail.
Other pieces in the collection embrace unique multi-functional and transformable touches, such as the detachable panels in the Bauhaus shirt and the DE:sign shirt that features a red patch of fabric that can double as a removable rucksack.
These open-ended touches reflect the desire by MLTV to create relational garments activated by the wearer and not the prescribed intentions of the designer.
